The Attic by Tracy Carbone
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
One of the single most terrifying-and impacting-stories I have ever read, there are no wasted moments, sentences, or words in 13 pages of “The Attic.” I got chills just from the title, but nothing compared to the knock-out punches of this story. Everything here meshed so coherently; nothing was telegraphed, and the climax followed by the ending were intensely powerful. I’ll give away nothing of the plot, and only say that there is no need to work for suspension of disbelief, because everything in this story is perfectly realistic.
