In a tiny town called Fort Everwick-the kind of community with a Norman Rockwell sweet style-four earthbound spirits have kept watch on the community and its inhabitants, including animal, since they each separately passed on March 19,1932. The four are sort of spirit guides, but additionally they’ve been gifted powers, including the ability to bring back to life. One, Hunter Emmerton, also has visions: precognitive realisations of both positive and negative events. Hunter and the others save a group of four adolescents in 1989, pursuant to his visions; but three of those turn evil and call themselves The Forces, set to take the town down by whatever means, including natural disasters.

So Hunter and his crew must find replacements, and they save a group of four, who become “The Chosen Ones”. However, The Forces want to replace their “fourth” too. What happens when one of these latter four, Samantha, falls head over heels with Hunter, deceased since 1932, will keep readers riveted to the pages.

“Faded” is an engrossing story with a delightful (and heartwarming premise). YA aficionados will adore it. As for me-I’m thankful it’s the first in a trilogy.
