Review of First to Find by Morgan C. Talbot
5 Stars!
As well as an exciting and intriguing mystery, one which did
not telegraph clues ahead of time, and so kept my total interest throughout,
this well-written debut novel introduced me to an entirely new hobby category:
geocaching. The process of using GPS coordinates (plain old latitude and
longitude, folks, every locale has ‘em) to find “treasure” in a sense (or
sometimes simply for the joy of being the first geocacher to locate a new “cache”),
geocaching provides intellectual stimulation right along with physical
exercise. In this particular venue, it also provides the wherewithal for a
wonderfully fun novel with multi-layered mysteries, intriguing characters, and
yes, even a little budding romance. Set in the Pacific Northwest, Ms. Talbot
has even woven in a likable character who is an unintentional emigrant from
Australia.
“First to Find” is just the beginning of the “Caching Out” series, and I, for one,
cannot wait for the next mystery!
