Review of White Lies by Jeremy Bates

“White Lies” is an amazing novel. I literally locked my door and did not stir away from my Kindle Fire until I had finished it-and then wished I could reread it immediately. I can’t rave enough about this book, except to say that it ought to be read by every aficionado of mystery, thriller, suspense-and by every student of writing. How could this novel be improved? I don’t believe it could be-I found it perfect as it is. The tension escalates to unbearable levels, much like a snowball might eventually turn into an avalance; only here there is no “eventually,” the consequences pile upon earlier actions, in a logical progression, worse each time, until-the blazing, blasting, knock-out denouements-and then, a gentle release of tension. Whew! What a ride! Take note of the title, for that says it all-and readers, be careful from now on to speak only the truth, because those “little white lies” come back to haunt your life-irrevocably and irredeemably.

I received a review e-book copy from NetGalley.com, and reviewed it at the author's request, in exchange for my fair and impartial review.

  1. Love this review/teaser! I have Jeremy's book on my Kindle, and look forward to reading. I take it that this is one that you cannot tell much - or it may spoil the reading journey.

  2. Yes! This story is so tautly plotted; one consequence grows from the previous; if I said too much, it would give the plot away-but believe me, it is well worth reading!!
