STONE AND SILT is a diligently researched, excitingly written novel of historic British Columbia, Canada, the author's native territory. On several levels it intrigues: YA young romance; frontier history; Gold Rush; murder mystery; and of especial interest to me, the tension of class and ethnicity between European descent Caucasians, First Nations (the indigenous native peoples), and Chinese immigrants. Seemingly racism, bigotry, and classism seldom change from era to era, or place to place. I highly recommend STONE AND SILT for upper-middle through Young Adult, New Adult, and adult readers.
