A fat-reading fantasy tale, of a protagonist who when awakened, finds himself frozen to to a bloody battlefield near a destroyed dam. He is the only one left alive, except for the couple who have come to.the field to salvage metal weapons and coins. They convert the weapons for household, animal husbandry, and vineyard implement. This trip they also carry a grievously wounded soldier. Eventually he recovers physically, but his memory shows no such recovery, not name, family, rank nor position, home nor realm.
