Prudence & the Indelibly Edible Holiday Gift: A Short Horror Story by Amanda Lawrence Auverigne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Review of Prudence & The Indelibly Edible Holiday Gift
4 stars
A normal, homely, extended family gathering over Christmas: plenty of food and lots of leftovers; gift giving, handing out the goodies under the tree (rather a lot of technological gifts this year-game stations and laptops, Ipods and more), and just as all are ready to leave to relax their overstuffed selves at home: lo and behold, each one gets one more gift, condiments in jars. When they get home and open the jars to eat the preserved foods, all is not so well, though. I think this will probably be the last Christmas tide that the extended family gathers at Aunt Sally’s.
Subtle, almost tongue-in-cheek horror suffuses this short story.
