Review: THE RETURNING TIDE by Julia Sokota

REVIEW: THE RETURNING TIDE

Unless we're very shallow, most of us keep secrets. Often those are mild, about thoughts, opinions, dreams, not about actions--not the kind of behavior that leads to legal trouble, injury, or fatalities. Businesswoman Claire Bentley is different. I rather think she might be a pathological liar, because she lies when there isn't a need. But the secret she's maintained for three decades involves the kind of actions mentioned above; and the fact of her actions then, and both keeping silence and overtly lying ever since, to preserve her desires reflects badly on her character--very badly indeed.
