Review: DEAD TO THE LAST DROP by Cleo Coyle
(A COFFEEHOUSE MYSTERY #15)
Cleo Coyle's COFFEEHOUSE HOUSE MYSTERY Series is both popular and well-received, and with good reason. DEAD TO THE LAST DROP is the series' 15th, and so exciting that I plan to start the series and read it through. It's cozy mystery in combination with suspenseful, edgy, thriller, interlaced with the romantic complications of Clare and boyfriend-heartthrob Mike, long-time NYPD detective on loan to DC for operations not revealed.
Clare has installed a new coffeehouse plus jazz club, the Village Blend DC, in the District, partially as an expansion of her employer-mentor's widely popular New York City establishment; partially to be closer to Mike. The new shop is not taking off, though, and Clare can't figure out why. The one high point is the jazz club and its new exceptional pianist-who just happens to be the university student daughter of the President.
